Head in the stars – Renovated old farm and its observatory

Thury sous Clermont, charming town of Oise, less than an hour from Paris, hosts the Château de Fillerval, place of residence in the 18th century of the Cassini family, famous astronomers whose famous discoveries were at the origin of many scientific vocations.

It is also in this village, at the foot of the church that this house is located, which stands out for its singularity and its double function.
Because more than a house, it is also a real observatory, which, thanks to a recent restoration is now in working condition!

This charming house has benefited from numerous renovations. Composed of a main building on three levels dedicated to family life, this is extended by outbuildings and by a garage and its attic,
The hall of the main building, distributes on the left, a living room, a dining room , then a kitchen and its scullery. On the right take a bedroom as well as a bathroom and toilets.

Finally, a door gives access to an external staircase which finally leads us to the famous dome and its observation scope. An ingenious mechanical system allows the opening of the panels on the sky and the orientation of the telescope according to the need.
