Château “Folie XVIIIth” on the banks of the Eure
Château “Folie XVIIIth” on the banks of the Eure
An integral part of the Château d’Anet estate, owned by the Duke of Orléans until 1830, and passed through the hands of several owners, it was ultimately the first Nobel Peace Prize winner, Frédéric Passy, who acquired the property. the property in 1901.
A beautiful symbol for a place that exudes calm and harmony.
At the time called the Château Rouge for its brick architecture, it was a fire in 1929 that gave it new life and a new identity.
After a few years of abandonment, it was in 1933 that a construction contractor acquired it and gave the Château its current appearance as an ?18th century Folly’ directly inspired by the Petit Trianon.
Even today, exploring the 400 m² of the premises means immersing yourself in the simple and refined neo-classical architecture which spans the ages with grace.
The first level is dedicated to the reception rooms, all opening onto a magnificent terrace overlooking the park made up of ponds, the center of life of a French garden created according to the rules of the art.
Materials with refined authenticity adorn the floors, walls and ceilings of a large living room, a dining room and a music room all served by a sumptuous entrance.
A large office and a 70s kitchen complete the premises.
Upstairs, 5 bedrooms and bathrooms share the space offering high ceilings and large openings onto the park.
A complete basement serves as a scullery, cellar and offers different spaces which can be arranged according to each person’s uses.
The property also includes a 90m² caretaker’s house and extends over more than one and a half hectares on both sides of the Eure.
The challenge for future owners will be to restore this incredible heritage to give back to the property the thousand splendors with which it will adorn itself so well, with the only limit being each person’s imagination.
A unique property for those who want to treat themselves to a page of history one hour from Paris!
